Africa Day
The annual commemoration of Africa Day marks the founding of the Organization of AfricanUnity (OAU now AU) in 1963 on May 25. Africa Day is a celebration that acknowledges the success of the pan-African movement that campaigned for Africa’s independence and apartheid. Africa Day is more than a date on the calendar; it’s a celebration of liberation, independence, and the enduring spirit of the African people. It’s a day to reflect on our collective journey, acknowledge the strides made in various fields, and envision a future of peace, prosperity, and collaboration.

Africa Day was hosted in 2023 by our partner Casa Foundation for International Development centered around the invaluable contributions of the African Diaspora in shaping and adding value to businesses across the continent. The festivities kicked off with a thought-provoking roundtable discussion, bringing together diverse voices to explore the dynamic role of the African Diaspora in fostering economic growth. This insightful conversation set the stage for a day filled with inspiration and collaboration. This was followed by a graduation ceremony honoring the achievements of graduates from BAH program. The event also featured an award ceremony to the winners from the pitch contest held in May. Closing the day attendees enjoyed a networking session, fostering connections and partnerships that transcend borders on a high note.
Africa Day 2023 was a testament to the power of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the limitless possibilities that arise when diverse perspectives converge.

The heart of the event was a compelling panel discussion titled “Round Table Discussion: The Africa We Want – How Africa Diasporas Can Harness its Entrepreneurs and Innovators for Growth.”
